– There are many different names for sugar including: dextrose, fructose, galactose, glucose, fructose, maltose, maltodextrin and sucrose.

– Sugar stimulates the same pleasure centers of the brain as cocaine or heroin

– When rats were fed sugar water and then deprived of it, the dopamine levels in their brain dropped, and they suffered from anxiety and the shakes.

– When 20 people were asked to cut out all added sugars and artificial sweeteners for two weeks, their tolerance for that sweet taste completely changed. 95 percent of subjects reported that the foods and drinks they used to consume now tasted “sweeter.” Over half reported that the intense cravings stopped after two to three days, and 87 percent no longer felt withdrawal effects after six days.

– Many Americans eat up to five times the amount of sugar that’s recommended by the American Heart Association. This means women are eating up to 30 teaspoons of sugar per day, while men eat up to 45 teaspoons!
